In addition to Ferenc Gyurcsány, the election in Borsod also meant the serious defeat of Gergely Karácsony

The left, led by Ferenc Gyurcsány, suffered a severe defeat in Sunday’s interim parliamentary elections, and the unprincipled power deal in which an openly anti-Semitic candidate was supported in the vote also failed. Left-wing politicians lined up alongside László Bíró, who had previously called Budapest Judapest, and Israeli citizens like lice. In addition to Ágnes Kunhalmi, co-chair of the MSZP, the mayor of Budapest, Gergely Karácsony, also campaigned in the Borsod settlements and happily posed with an openly anti-Semitic candidate. The defeat of the left at Borsod is thus the personal, exaggerated and humiliating defeat of Gergely Karácsony. The left performed worse than in the 2018 parliamentary elections, which also shows that the Hungarian people are not buyers of unprincipled cooperation. Once again, the left-wing coalition that can do anything for power and money has failed. As we wrote before: the people of Borsod did not ask for the left, which once ruined the country. The successful crisis management of the ruling parties in the coronavirus epidemic, the preservation of jobs and the successful family policy played a very important role in the superior victory of Zsófia Koncz, the candidate of the Fidesz-KDNP.

Zsófia Koncz, the Fidesz-KDNP candidate, won almost 51 percent of the votes, while László Bíró, the Gyurcsány coalition candidate, won 45 percent in Sunday’s by-elections.n, which took place in district number six of the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén region. Provisional elections had to be called in the district after Fidesz’s Ferenc Koncz was killed in a car accident in July. The government side chose Zsófia Koncz, the daughter of Member of Parliament Ferenc Koncz, for the elections. The left started László Bíró from the right, literally themselves, since Jobbik could not even nominate him due to administrative errors.

Gábor Váradi, representative of the Roma municipality of Miskolc, Tibor Szanyi’s party Ádám Tóth, supported by the Yes Solidarity Movement for Hungary (ISZOMM), and Erika Sóváriné Bukta, who participated in the elections, also ran independently.

Behind the anti-Semitic candidate, the entire left, Gergely Karácsony happily photographed himself with László Bíró in Borsod

The left, led by Ferenc Gyurcsány, lined up behind anti-Semite László Bíró before the vote. As is well known, shortly after the left-wing parties officially announced that they would present a judge in the elections, outrageous anti-Semitic demonstrations by their candidate emerged. He called tourists of Jewish descent living in hotels in and around Szerencs “lice slides” and Budapest “Judapest.” On other occasions, he wrote that “the bank capital of Jewish usury was cut off from the economy, the payment of cosmopolitan theft was euphemized as war reparations were abolished.” After such antecedents, it would have been a normal decision for them to step back behind László Bíró, as it was demanded by various left-wing opinion leaders and politicians. However, the left chose a completely different solution: its politicians gave their names and faces in turn to the campaign of the openly anti-Semitic politician.

As Origo first reported, the line Agnes Kunhalmi, initiated by the co-chair of the MSZP, a member of parliament. In addition to distributing brochures at Bíró’s campaign station in Tiszaújváros, the socialist politician even posted a supporting video on his community page. Thereafter, leading politicians on the left outbid each other Borsod for their judapest candidate and lice slip. One day before the elections already Gergely Karácsony, Ágnes Kunhalmi and Péter Márki-Zay also participated personally in the campaign of the politician Jobbik, and even the mayor spoke with him in a joint street forum. But perhaps the most absurd:

POLITICIANS ON THE LEFT SIGNED WITH A COMMON SMILING BEING THAT CAN SUPPORT THE JUDAPESTO-CEILING TOILET IN FULL WIDTH WITHOUT MORAL RESERVATIONS.

As we wrote earlier: Mayor Jakab Péter Jobbik, imitating President Jobbik, pointed the finger at László Bíró, saying that the anti-Semitic politician is the right choice.

The serious defeat of the left led by Gyurcsány

The fall of László Bíró was also a serious failure of the left led by Ferenc Gyurcsány. One of the reasons for this is that The lucky by-elections were seen by the left parties as the main test of the 2022 parliamentary elections, which is why they were all behind Judge. All this shows how important the current election was for them, in which they wanted to demonstrate the legitimacy of left-wing cooperation.

At the same time, in addition to the current fortunes, the by-elections in Mohács a few weeks ago and a series of opinion polls show that the opposition alone cannot reach more voters and achieve some percentage points worse than the shares previously acquired by separated. Unprincipled power bargaining is not working. This is also true for the current elections in Borsod, as in 2018 the total opposition still won 51 percent, while now only 45.

Voters are satisfied with job protection and family policy

In addition to completely unprincipled opposition tactics, another reason for the success of the ruling parties is that Because the government is stable and able to act, it can take the necessary epidemiological measures in time, and it can also act more successfully against economic difficulties than countries with unstable governments. The current provisional election also indicates that Voters are satisfied with the government’s crisis management, with most saying that Hungary has successfully addressed the coronavirus epidemic and that stimulus measures are appropriate, so, for example, unemployment has not risen significantly. Fidesz’s local success was aided by the town’s CSOK and the increasingly successful and internationally recognized family policy.

The successful management of the crisis is rewarded by the voters, thanks to which Fidesz-KDNP has more than 50 percent of voters from secure parties behind, which is higher than the result of the 2018 elections, according to national polls. .
