Coronavirus: the second wave

Half a year after the spring outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the second wave of the pandemic has arrived. The radical increase in the number of infected is forcing more and more countries to re-impose restrictions, despite the fact that the world economy has not even recovered from the effects of the spring outbreak. The new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) was detected in 1,374 new Hungarian citizens, increasing the number of infected people in Hungary to 36,596, the National Center for Public Health said. According to the latest data, 20 patients have died, all over the age of sixty. Since the beginning of the epidemic, the number of deaths has risen to 933 and 9,683 have already been recovered. The number of active infections is 25,980.

A third of those actively infected, 47 percent of the dead and 34 percent of those recovered are from Budapest. According to a new dynamic data service requested in hospitals, 1,174 coronavirus patients are being hospitalized, 110 of whom are connected to ventilators.

According to the latest figures from Johns Hopkins University, nearly 37 million people worldwide have been infected with the coronavirus, with 1,067,101 victims and 25.5 million recovered.
