According to the information, the German compromise proposal, which holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union until the end of December, could be supported by the Member States to mark each region with the same color, green, orange or red, depending on the intensity. of the virus.

If the ambassadors of the member states to the EU reach an agreement on Friday, the draft could be adopted by the ministers responsible for European affairs at their meeting in Luxembourg on Tuesday.

The development and adoption of a common European epidemic map will require solutions to problems such as a harmonized method for mapping the spread of the virus or joint analysis of data, the diplomat said. He also said the proposal would not impose, among other things, travel restrictions on travelers between member states in regions marked in green with a low infection rate.

However, Member States can set their own rules on travel restrictions, quarantine and testing requirements for those coming from orange or red regions. Based on the leaked information, seasonal workers, travelers, diplomats and journalists are expected to enjoy exemptions from travel restrictions.
