Since the outbreak in early March, more than 90,000 confirmed infections have been recorded in the Czech Republic. On Tuesday, 13 people died from the coronavirus, bringing the death toll to 794.

The number of active infections is 40,400, of which 1,387 are hospitalized, while the rest have a mild course of the disease. Currently, 326 patients are in serious condition and require a ventilator.

The number of daily tests performed has risen to 20-25,000, and about 20 percent of screening tests confirm infection. This is much higher than the 5% set by WHO as a limit, and this means that much more should be tested in the Czech Republic as well.

Within the European Union, the Czech Republic has recently experienced the fastest increase in the number of people infected per day. International statistics show that in the last two weeks in the Czech Republic there are 326.8 confirmed infected people per 100,000 inhabitants. In second place is Spain with 302.4 infections, while in third place is the Netherlands with 257.

Czech Health Minister Roman Prymula has indicated that more precautions will be taken this week due to the epidemic.
