Ms. Kornélné Németh (Fidesz-KDNP) won the mayoral elections in Balatonszemes, Somogy County, on Sunday, Ibolya Szatmári, secretary of the Balatonszemes Joint Municipal Office, informed MTI.

Ms Kornélné Németh, who has so far served as deputy mayor, received 529 valid votes, while her independent rivals Péter Farkas obtained 257 valid votes, Tamás Havasy 24 and János Borbély 19 votes.

Of the 1,527 voters on the shores of Lake Balaton, 834 voted, representing 54.6 percent of the turnout. Five voted invalid.

The interim election was necessary because Szomorú Szilárd (Fidesz-KDNP) resigned on July 1. However, he did not speak of the reasons, we also wrote that he may have been overthrown by a mysterious force, and then the threads led to a fired company manager.
