János Szlávik emphasized that favipiravir is a drug that is used to treat influenza in the Far East, Hungary, and can currently be administered to patients in a hospital setting.

He said: There is enough available in Hungary to care for patients, but production will also start soon in Hungary.

He added that his dose depends on his weight, he needs to take several tablets a day. It appears to have very few side effects, but it works quickly, and patients treated at an early stage will soon have a fever and get better, he said.

János Slavik also classified obesity as a high risk factor for coronavirus infection. He put it this way: Since the beginning of the epidemic, the coronavirus has been known to pose an increased risk for the elderly, the chronically ill, and is also a risk factor for heart and lung disease, cancer, and smoking.

According to the chief physician, overweight people, especially those who are extremely obese, are also more dangerous because they find it more difficult to breathe and have less oxygen than people of normal weight, and they have more difficulty breathing and are often accompanied by many other chronic diseases. such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or cardiovascular disease.

He said that various types of vaccines are being investigated around the world and some vaccines have already been registered. As a member of the European Union, Hungary will receive a sufficient quantity of vaccine, but it seems that we will have to wait until early next year, added János Szlávik.
