The University of Theater and Cinematographic Arts faces the greatest development in its history to date, which we hope can make our institution one of the most important institutions of higher artistic education at an international level. The renovation of the University must be carried out jointly, starting from our tradition of 155 years, preserving the recent results of the institution. A precondition for this is to resolve the current crisis situation as soon as possible so that a dialogue can begin on the future of the University. The new management of the University, in consultation with the maintainer, therefore, makes the following offer to the citizens of the University, said the rector and deputy rector general of the University of Theater Arts and Cinematography.

  1. Beginning September 1, 2020, University full-time employees will receive a uniform salary increase of 10% upon receiving the increased amount along with their salary transferred in December 2020 for the entire period (4 months).
  2. Starting on January 1, 2021, we will introduce a uniform pay scale, as a result of which we will implement an additional average pay increase of 15%. University employees may continue to work according to their previous civil service schedule.
  3. The call for a strike will be immediately revoked without further conditions.
  4. The acts intended to disturb the educational order of the University and hinder the internal functioning of the University facilities (including in particular the blockade) will end at midnight on October 7, 2020 at the latest, the new university leaders will be able to enter from irrevocably to the university facilities and the original order of admission will be restored. At the same time, the signature of other documents necessary for the calculation of salaries, payment of salaries and the normal functioning of the University will be ensured.
  5. Comprehensive and wide-ranging consultations on the future of the University begin with the involvement of full university citizenship, whose topics include planned developments and, in particular, the topic of university autonomy. The details of the Consultations will be determined by mutual agreement between the Parties.
  6. The forums formed as a result of the student organization may continue to operate within the framework of the Self-Government of University Students, but this should not lead to the interruption of educational activities. The question of continuing or suspending the academic semester depends on the restoration of educational order as soon as possible.
  7. In accordance with the commitment made by the University management in its communications to date, no action will be taken against employees and students who, in the period between the start of the protests and midnight on October 7, 2020, either as organizers or implementers interrupted their order or educational activities.
  8. The above steps of crisis management are considered mandatory by the University management if all its points, which cover all parts, are uniform.

Let’s work together for the renewal of our University!

Chancellor Dr. Gábor Szarka
