“The decision of Emil Novák, contrary to the following statement of the Film Academy, made it inconsistent and morally unacceptable, made it impossible for the presidency of the Academy to continue to function.”
Members of the Hungarian Film Academy had previously issued a statement indicating that they were surprisingly monitoring the outrageous situation around the University of Theater and Film Arts. “The Hungarian Film Academy believes exclusively in democratic cooperation, where the interests of all actors, first of all students, prevail in a dignified way, and decisions are made during a professional and meaningful dialogue between the parties. The Film Academy is interested in continuing the traditions of high-level professional and artistic training, so it is committed to helping establish a constructive dialogue on issues related to SZFE’s film training ”.they wrote.
The organization’s presidency called a meeting of delegates for October 16 to elect a new presidency. The Hungarian Academy, founded in 2014, organizes the Hungarian Film Week every year, where the Hungarian Film Awards are awarded based on the secret votes of the members. According to Színház Online, after Gábor Reisz, among others, Simon Szabó, György Kárpáti, Ferenc Török, Péter Gárdos, Attila Hartung and Dénes Orosz left the Academy.
