The Hungarian player now beat the Spaniard Albert Ramos Viñolas.

Martin Fucsovics reached the third round of the French Open on Thursday after winning three sets over Spaniard Albert Ramos Viñolas.

In the world rankings, the 63rd Fuchsovich showed a great feat in the first round on Monday when he beat fourth-placed Russia Danyiil Medvedev in four sets. The Nyíregyháza player – whose best result was the second round in the 2018 scum track Grand Slam tournament – managed to beat the top 10 opponent first, and then the 44th Spaniard Albert Ramos Viñolas awaited him in the ATP rankings. The 32-year-old rival was already in 17th place, winning two tournaments and marching to the 2016 quarter-finals at Roland Garros.

The two players have met five times so far, Ramos Viñolas led 3-2, the top Hungarian player’s two successes at last year’s Australian Open and his victory at the 2018 tournament in Geneva.

Fucsovics, 28, did not start the best of his career in match 15 of the main event of the 15th Grand Slam on court 12, the Barcelona player shot 3-0, but was soon 4: 4 on the scoreboard. From there, they both brought their serve with confidence, then Fucsovics was clearly better on the acronym – his left-handed opponent also hit the ground with the bat in anger – and then the Hungarian led the first set with a spectacular rise.

In the jump to 4: 3, Fucsovics defeated eight and his scum specialist three break balls in a great fight. But then the ice was broken, the tennis player from Nyíregyháza – that “Don’t let him play!” he cheered himself up with an exclamation: he stepped forward with a glaring victory and then easily outsourced the second game.

The third act started off with relatively stable service booms, then at 3: 4 it started to rain and the players waited in place on a heater with an umbrella for a few minutes. The pause may have surprised Fucsovics, who had lost his servant, but he immediately reverted to the abrupt position, so the set continued under the now bright sun. The Hungarian player, who waited patiently for the chances, soon made three 3: 5 booms in a row, eventually outsourcing the match, which lasted 3 hours and 1 minute.

Fucsovics will meet Brazilian Thiago Monteiro (84) in the third round, which is his best result at Roland Garros.
