Canadian drinking water brand Berg produces ice from floating ice sheets in Greenland and transports it for bottling. The bottled water is then shipped from Halifax, Canada to Antwerp across the Atlantic, where it is loaded onto trucks and transported to Switzerland via Europe. Switzerland’s Manor store chain, which distributes Greenland glacier water in the Alpine country, has already announced that it has decided this year that it will no longer sell Berg products and other foreign water brands, MTI reported. As they explained, they take the opinions of their customers and the audience very seriously.
Almost 6,000 people participated in this year’s vote on the Alps Initiative. Also in the Devil’s Stone award was a bottle of pickled cucumber transported to Switzerland from more than 18,000 kilometers from Vietnam, as well as pomegranate from Peru, which was processed in Egypt before arriving in Switzerland by plane.
