Four more countries have been marked in red on the coronavirus map by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), writes CNN.

For countries that are now on the red list, the number of new infections per 100,000 people has surpassed 120 in the last two weeks.

On Tuesday, in addition to the Netherlands, Iceland and Denmark, Hungary also turned red on the map.

The following countries are currently on the ECDC Red List. The number of new cases per 100,000 people during the last 14 days is shown in parentheses.

  • Spain (320)
  • Czech Republic (267)
  • France (235)
  • Luxembourg (189)
  • Belgium (171)
  • Netherlands (171)
  • Iceland (128)
  • Denmark (128)
  • Hungary (127)

All this also means that the epidemiological situation in Hungary is currently the ninth worst in Europe.

The ECDC classification is for informational purposes only, it has no binding consequences, but most EU Member States also take these statistics into account when closing their borders to another state, that is, they require those coming from there to be quarantined.

Coronavirus can infect in a hitherto unknown way

It wasn’t the virus that changed, but the Szeged researchers found a way through which it could enter cells: interaction with saccharified cell surface proteins could provide the engine for this.
