The third generation Sandero and Logan is nicer, more spacious and much better equipped than its predecessors. You can now order an access card, automatic transmission, electric parking brake, LED headlights and driving assistance systems.
Since its relaunch in 2004, Renault-owned Dacia has been racking up successes, as evidenced by the fact that it has since sold 6.4 million cars worldwide. From this every third was Sandero, The brand’s entry-level model in Europe has also been leading the list of biggest sales of new cars sold to private buyers since 2017. Offering cheap, simple and robust cars, Dacia also benefited from the 2020 coronavirus epidemic after the 2009 economic crisis, as in a crisis situation, buyers think twice about how much money they are spending on a new car.
How do they look?
In design, Sandero and Logan advanced at least as much as in 2012 with the arrival of previous generations. Modern and clean, but a world of new and unpretentious design would even be an honor for Volkswagen. Proportions were greatly improved by making the body 3.1 (Logan: 3.6) inches longer, 11.5 inches wider, and 2.4 inches lower.
In line with current trends, the side windows have gotten smaller, the windshield is already being installed at a flatter angle, and the roofline has also received a slightly sloping slope on the Sandero. And the supply of space and the maintenance of the road also benefited from that the wheels are further apart: the wheelbase is 1.5 centimeters and the track width is 3 centimeters wider, which is also accentuated by the embossed fenders.
LED headlights and smart roof rail
This time, the exterior details have finally been taken into account: the chrome trim on the bumper and the LED daytime running lights that shape the tree branch fit well with the shape of the nose, but it also throws the look at least ergonomic, open handles instead of ugly pull-ups. They are used.
Even the trunk key lock, reminiscent of the old 1300 Dacias, has been abandoned in the better equipped versions because they use an electric lock. Nice surprise that the LED headlight has a basic price, whose passing beam shines 37 percent farther (110 meters) than the old halogen.
In the case of the Sandero, the lid of the Stepway version was also removed. It is understandable that they did not want to delay it since 65 percent of the sanders sold are requested by customers with the optical terrain package. The new Stepway has a unique hood, bumper, grille and rims, unpainted plastic bumpers along the edges, and a 4.1-inch raised chassis from the regular Sandero (17.4 inches of headroom, in part due to more inflated tires).
How is the cabin?
Inside, the Sandero / Logan pair has also seen significant development, with a modern-looking instrument panel with fabric insert in a sleek horizontal design, this time with flat and wide openings instead of round air intakes, steering wheel Duster’s multifunction, gear stick and climate control knob comes from. Finally, not only the height but also the distance can be adjusted for the steering wheel, so you can find your ideal position with various body shapes. The interior materials are said to be better and the slimmer headrests and newly designed seats are more comfortable and last longer than before, but we’ll only get to see that in person later.
The richly equipped versions include a guided reversing camera, automatic windshield wipers, front and rear parking radar, electric parking brake and sunroof, as well as a driver-oriented 8-inch touchscreen. The latter has been moved from the bottom to the top of the center console so that the driver can focus on it sooner if they take their eyes off the road.
