– It is beyond the first victory in the top 10 of his career: the last time he won in Hungarian tennis against Balázs Taróczy against Ivan Lendl in 1983, since then the male tennis player has not been able to do similar feats. What do you have in mind now?
“Yes, that’s all true, one of the biggest victories of my career was saying goodbye to fifth place in the world rankings at this year’s Grand Slam. But I still think of this success as a first round victory at Roland Garros, now I am concentrating on the next training and match, I do not think about it all ”, replied Márton Fucsovics to the National Sport, who, achieved during the derivation and stretching.
“It is good to know that he has become such a professional tennis player that he does not even remember celebrating after winning a first round.
– I have played many major Grand Slam board games before, this was my sixth win this year, and although I did not win against the top ten before, I advanced against excellent tennis players. Now those in the forefront know, respect, accept, know that I am a dangerous opponent, so I have no reason to overestimate the success of the first match.
– Eurosport commentator Mats Wilander said that you are one of the most underrated players on the field and capable of performing as, say, Russian top 20 Andrei Rublev.
– It is very kind of you, you have made similar statements several times. I used to criticize my service, but I work a lot on this, I feel like I have improved a lot in the last nine to ten months. I am twenty-eight years old, I hope I can improve more and reach the top, even the top ten, in one or two years.
“Medvedev is without a doubt the weakest scum cover, but a world-class player who really, really wanted this win. What did it take to be successful?
– I had a feeling like at the Australian Open against Denis Shapovalov. In a good mood, with good movement, I started the game successfully, I did not feel that my opponent pushed me off the field, in fact, I had time to get to the balls. I played smart, the cuts worked really well, I was able to hit the balls for a long time, and I tried to focus as hard as possible on the most important moments.
“And then you are exclusively focusing on your next opponent, the Spaniard Albert Ramos-Viñolas?”
– So is. I suppose that tonight I will have the first victory to continue building, but to prepare, to continue working, now the next game is the most important thing, not what happened against Medvedev.
