The This Essence portal interviewed Ágnes Kunhalmi, MSZP co-chair elected last Saturday. The politician acknowledged that the popularity or unpopularity of his party was due to several bad decisions.
We must have run a couple of weaker campaigns too. However, there is no other party that has been as apologetic as we are.
Ágnes Kunhalmi said, adding that he did not want to continue this tradition. According to him, the MSZP can launch a “party of change” and a “clear, fair and sustainable path” in 2022 with a new government.
Ágnes Kunhalmi spoke about the fact that, in her opinion, women are still at a disadvantage in many areas of Hungary and want to change this, and even answered the question whether she would be the prime minister of Hungary.
It would be good for Hungary if many more women worked in politics and in senior management positions in economic life. Not only because women take other aspects into account, but also because they are one of the most important elements of human emancipation. As for the presidency of prime minister, a prominent politician cannot evade any challenge.
The newly elected co-chair also mentioned the three biggest sins of Fidesz, which has been ruling since 2010. According to him, Viktor Orbán’s party
- chose stagnation instead of catching up
- reduction of Hungarian education and
- it destroys the ethos of democracy, eliminating the political economy of change.
Among top politicians, Ferenc Gyurcsány, president of the Democratic Coalition, said in February that he did not want to be prime minister in 2022, and the momentary András Fekete-Győr spoke this week about his wife, currently Klára Dobrev MEP. leading the list, the opposition cannot win.
