Hungary wants to achieve economic recovery after the coronavirus epidemic by increasing investments and reducing taxes, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán emphasized in an interview with Reuters. He added: if there are investments, there are jobs.

Regarding the employment support program, the head of government said that if there is a reason to do so, the government will extend the program, but now it will focus mainly on investment.

The Hungarian Prime Minister said about the US presidential elections:

Donald Trump will win the US presidential election on November 3.

Viktor Orbán put it this way: “We have an exceptionally good relationship with Trump.” Answering a question, he added: If Democrat Joe Biden wins in the end, he probably will.

“There will be lower levels of openness, warmth, mutual help.”

The prime minister said: In the event of Trump’s victory, the European Union should normalize its trade relations with the United States and solve the problem of the long-term European stationing of American troops.

Viktor Orbán said about Brexit:

It was a bold decision for the UK to leave the European Union, but Hungary will not follow this path.

Support for the European Union is extremely high in Hungary, despite many contentious issues, such as migration or the rule of law.

The prime minister said he did not support the European Commission’s new package of migration and asylum proposals presented on Wednesday, as it could force Hungary to receive asylum seekers.

Viktor Orbán confirmed: Budapest will not accept anything that might force it to accept people from the Middle East or Africa. He said:

This is a very troublesome point. This is nothing more than renaming the migration. And we continue to reject relocation. This point is unacceptable to the Hungarian people.
