The General Court of Székesfehérvár found the guilt of seven people who participated in an organized budget fraud, which caused particularly serious material damage and caused around 400 million damage to the budget, the Fejér County Prosecutor’s Office told MTI.

According to the announcement, one of the defendants, as the main organizer of one of the festival organizing companies in Hungary, did not pay VAT on income from online and foreign ticket sales between 2013 and 2016 with the participation of six of his colleagues.

To hide the unpaid VAT, he carried out financial transactions with the help of the defendant’s colleagues, collected them in cash or collected them with his friends and bought real estate.

During the investigation, the tax authority seized around HUF 317 million, while one of the defendants paid the remaining HUF 74 million, thus recovering the full damage to the property.

At the preparatory hearing, the defendants testified and waived their right to a hearing. The General Court of Székesfehérvár approved the agreement between the prosecution and the three defendants and imposed the sentence according to the agreement.

The court imposed a suspended prison sentence on five defendants, as well as a fine on one of them and a fine on two defendants, and confiscated the property of one of the defendants, according to the statement.
