Index – Domestic – Heavy duty dances on the edge of the blade in Uzsoki

According to the information in the possession of the Index, the intensive care unit of Uzsoki Street Hospital

has reached the limit of disability,

as they need five qualified nurses to treat coronavirus patients elsewhere, so they can no longer count on them in care.

This puts the institution in the face of practically impossible decisions: the choice between cancer patients awaiting surgery and intensive care. Our newspaper knows that

the surgeries will definitely be missed,

since intensive care is essential after cancer surgeries. Due to a shortage of specialists, the sector has already been on the verge of dancing in human resource management anyway, and this situation is now exacerbated by the additional labor needs of the second wave of the epidemic. The tasks related to redirections are prescribed by ministerial decision, so the institutions cannot debate them, they must deliver the requested specialists.

As reported by the Index, the government has focused on acquiring medical equipment since March, the time the coronavirus epidemic began in Hungary, but failed to handle the expected problem of growing demand for specialists. And before all this, the prime minister changed the subject.

Of course, we contacted the general director of the Uzsoki Street Hospital, who responded He informed us that, according to the corresponding ministerial order, he could now only declare us in possession of a maintenance license, which he had not yet received.
