In five cases, a specialist claimed an improper advantage, according to the indictment. The defendant, a seventy-four-year-old man, worked as an obstetrician-gynecologist at a medical institution in Budapest. Between 2014 and 2017, the man requested and in some cases received money from five of his providers for obstetric and gynecological interventions provided under social security-funded care. Sometimes the physician underestimated the amount provided voluntarily or at the request of the patient; It can be read on the website of the prosecutor’s office. The Metropolitan Attorney General’s Office has charged the doctor with accepting a professionally committed bribe.

The court of first instance found the doctor guilty and sentenced him to 1 year and 6 months – 4 years suspended execution – in prison and a fine of one million guilders.

The verdict is not final, the prosecution appealed to sentence the accused to prison, exclude him from public affairs and his occupation.

The defense used one recourse primarily for exemption and, second, for relief.
