During the epidemiological readiness period, only designated border crossings can be used, the Vas County Sheriff’s Office warned on Wednesday on the police website in connection with a Tuesday and Wednesday case in which five people were ticketed on the spot due to a prohibited border crossing violation.
The cases were reported: On Tuesday night, the police confirmed four residents of Szombathely near the border crossing of the Pornóapáti-Deutsch Schützen highway.
The men went to Austria to play soccer and then returned to Hungary on foot, without crossing the physical border.
On Wednesday morning, an Austrian citizen was confirmed in the Vaskeresztes area, who arrived in Hungary on a tractor without going through the physical border blockade. In all cases, the police imposed fines at the scene for violating a prohibited border crossing.
At the same time, attention was drawn to the fact that during the period of temporary reintroduction of border control, the country’s border (also at internal Schengen borders) can only be crossed at border crossings open during opening hours. .
In the case of a violation of the rules, the amount of the fine on the spot can vary from five thousand to fifty thousand forints, and within six months in the case of another violation of the rules, up to seventy thousand forints. If an infringement proceeding is initiated, the maximum amount of the fine can be 150 thousand florins, he explained.
