– Similar and similar messages have previously appeared on the Szallas.hu website and on its mobile application. However, according to the Hungarian Competition Authority, they are infringing, because due to the way they appear, the messages transmitted to consumers by psychological pressure that the accommodation they were looking for was only available to a limited extent.

According to the authority, this method, which is an aggressive commercial practice, confuses users, who may not be properly informed before making their choice.

The GVH also claimed that Szallas.hu Zrt. He cooperated during the investigation, acknowledged the violation, and abandoned the practice. This is the reason why the Competition Authority ultimately did not impose a fine, but instead ordered the company to implement a complex package of measures.

As part of this, the company is redesigning its online interfaces and launching a consumer information campaign to raise awareness of behaviors that are appropriate for psychological pressure, the importance of recognizing them, and ways to avoid them. The company also conducts market research and consumer research on the topic, the results of which it informs other market participants, such as hosting provider partners and e-commerce companies.
