László Szjj’s company, Duna Aszfalt Út és Mélyépítő Kft., Won the public tender for the design and construction of the Kalocsa-Paks New Danube Bridge and the related road network, according to the official EU gazette. The total value of the investment is HUF 91.9 billion, for which the company must carry out, among other things, the design work, the construction of a bridge, a drainage system and a road. On September 14, a contract to this effect was signed with the National Infrastructure Promoter.

The project was divided into two, but what both contracts have in common is that they have far exceeded the initially estimated costs:

  • The first contract had an estimated value of 71.9 billion, but was finally agreed at 76.9 billion;
  • and the second was originally estimated at 8 billion, but in the end the contract was already 14.9 billion.

In other words, the entire project was 12 billion more expensive than planned. By the way, László Szjj has not only a construction company, but also a luxury yacht called Lady MRD, worth 7 billion HUF, which is regularly used by state leaders.In August, Péter Szijjártó was photographed in the Adriatic.

Since then, the chancellor has refused to say how he got on the ship, received the multimillion-dollar trip from László Szjj or paid the businessman for it. The Minister only said in his questions that his vacation was a private matter and, furthermore, he never made a decision. “that would have been paved with corrupt intentions”.

Regarding the yacht issue, Bernadett Szél, an independent MP, presented a bill to parliament last week that a contractor who gives a gift to government leaders or members of the government worth more than half of the fees of the MPs can not go to public procurement.
