Coronavirus – the second wave

Half a year after the spring outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the second wave of the pandemic has arrived. The radical increase in the number of infected is forcing more and more countries to reimpose restrictions, although the world economy has not even recovered from the effects of the spring outbreak. Another 633 citizens were diagnosed with the new coronavirus infection, increasing the number of infections identified in Hungary to 19,499 reported on the government information page.

Eight coronavirus patients died, including 37, one 51 and one 54, bringing the death toll to 694.

4559 people have been declared cured so far. The number of active infections is 14,246.

In the last 24 hours, 6010 tests have been carried out, for which a total of 632,031 samples have already been taken in Hungary.

There are currently 25,212 people in home quarantine, 1,538 fewer than yesterday.

The hospital treated 534 coronavirus patients on Monday (+71 compared to yesterday), 36 of whom are connected to a ventilator (+1).

40 percent of the actively infected, 57 percent of the dead and 40 percent of those recovered are from Budapest.

On Koronavirus.gov.hu, attention was drawn to the fact that the use of the mask is mandatory not only in shops and public transport, but also in cinemas, theaters, shopping centers, health and social care institutions and customer reception offices. After 23:00, restaurants and entertainment venues must be closed.

It was also highlighted that in September the school year began in traditional working hours, but with strict security measures, in almost six thousand public educational institutions in more than thirteen thousand workplaces. The operational court has so far ordered extraordinary breaks in 23 kindergartens and 6 schools, and digital work schedules for 204 classes and 7 entire schools for coronavirus diseases.
