One of the largest Czech media companies, Economia, supports the operation of telex.hu, founded by journalists and editors who left the Index, with 200,000 euros and the current exchange rate of about 72 million guilders, writes Reuters.
The news agency emphasizes that the events on Hungary’s largest news portal were caused by government pressure against the free press in the summer, but the Orbán government refused to intervene.
On Friday, more than eighty members of the Index began their dismissal, after the chairman of the board, László Bodolai, fired the editor-in-chief of the newspaper, Szabolcs Dull on Wednesday. In our video, we show what happened around the Index in the last month.
