József Mondok, who is running with the support of the ruling party, has been re-elected and remains on trial. Isaac had to hold interim elections because the opposition mayor elected in the fall resigned in June.

There was a short but tough campaign in Isaac, and the two candidates registered in early August. József Mondok, who was charged with his hunting lodge and other crimes and supported by the ruling party, which ran the small town for several cycles until last fall, was reinstated. The current representative, István Varga, also applied for the position of mayor, who resigned in June.

The fighting was intense in the fall, Mondok was defeated by the opposition candidate with only 39 votes.

By Sunday night, the preliminary data had already appeared on the valasztas.hu website: 4803 may have voted on the agreement, 2548 of them went to the polling stations. Mondok was voted in 1491, Varga in 1035. I say that József already thanked those who voted for him on the community page:

“The first interim election in Isaac’s history ended and the result was achieved. An election is often said to be a celebration of democracy. It was almost a year ago when I got more votes than ever, but then it turned out to be very little. “
