By Friday morning, the number of infected people identified had risen by 941 and six chronically elderly patients had died, reported koronavírus.gov.hu.

According to a recent announcement, the new coronavirus infection (Covid-19) was detected in 941 new Hungarian citizens in the last day, increasing the number of infected people in Hungary to 16,111.

This represents a substantial increase after Thursday’s 710 new cases, as well as an absolute peak, meaning the daily number of new infections has never been higher.

Six elderly patients with chronic diseases died on Friday morning, bringing the death toll to 669, and 4,240 have already recovered.

The number of actively infected people is 11,202, which also means an unprecedented high level in Hungary. 42 percent of the actively infected, 58 percent of the dead and 41 percent of those recovered were in Budapest. There are 374 hospitalized coronavirus patients, 29 of whom are on ventilators.

As the data of new infections warn, the second wave of the epidemic is taking place in Hungary, the virus is already spreading in the community. The government’s goal is to keep the country running and not allow the virus to paralyze everyday life, so the general rules that are already in place and easy to follow are now even more important. At its meeting on Wednesday, the government decided to maintain entry restrictions and further tighten. In addition to shops and public transport, the use of the mask is mandatory in cinemas, theaters, health and social institutions and customer reception offices. After 23, the discos will be closed.

In order to curb the spread of the community, we will continue to avoid places where there are many people indoors, preferably keep social distance, wash our hands frequently and thoroughly. Anyone who has received an official home quarantine order for a stay abroad or for any other reason must strictly comply. Anyone with symptoms should not go into the community, but rather stay home and notify their GP by phone. Starting in October, teachers and students can only enter schools after a body temperature measurement.

The protection of elderly and chronic patients is of the utmost importance. Older people are also asked to pay close attention to themselves and general precautions. Visiting hospitals and nursing homes is prohibited. And nursing home administrators should do everything possible to prevent infection, read the government website.
