The PCR test for the coronavirus will have to be paid for by those who decide to go to the sample, said Csaba Dömötör, parliamentary secretary of state in the Prime Minister’s Office, in a video posted on the government’s Facebook page.

The cabinet decided this week to introduce an official price for the PCR test. This will be HUF 19,500, which includes the sampling and analysis fee.

It is important to note that if the test is requested by a GP, a hospital or an authority according to a protocol, you will not have to pay yet. So far, 580 thousand samples have been taken in Hungary, most of them free of charge.

The official price will apply to those who voluntarily request a PCR test, for example, to “get rid” of the official home quarantine with two negative results upon return from abroad.

The aim is that no one can “win” the tests, the government’s decision serves this purpose – emphasized Csaba Dömötör.
