The new coronavirus infection (Covid-19) was detected in 581 new Hungarian citizens, thus increasing the number of infected people in Hungary to 14,460. Eight chronic patients died, bringing the death toll to 654 and 4,153 have already recovered. The number of active infections is 9653. The active infected were 42, the dead 58 and those recovered 42 percent from Budapest. There are 324 hospitalized coronavirus patients, 18 of whom are on ventilators.
In an interview with M1 on Saturday, Orkán VIktor said that what we need to pay attention to is not the number of diseases, but the number of deaths. The eight deaths are a record in the wave of coronavirus epidemics in Hungary.
The number of infected people identified is likely only a fraction of all those infected.
The Orbán government emphasized that the general rules that were already in place and easy to follow were now even more important. They ask that
- all people must strictly comply with the rules of mandatory use of masks in shops and on public transport;
- To stop the spread of the community, we will continue to avoid places where there are many people inside;
- preferably keep social distance;
- wash your hands well often;
- a person who has been ordered an official home quarantine for a stay abroad or for any other reason must strictly comply with it;
- Anyone with symptoms should not go into the community but stay home and notify their GP by phone.
The protection of the elderly and chronically ill is also emphasized: the elderly are also asked to pay more attention to themselves and to adhere to general precautions. Visiting hospitals and nursing homes is prohibited. And nursing home administrators must do everything possible to prevent infection.
