In his brief information available on the embassy site, he states that it was an honor and a privilege to serve the country he loves in a country that he sincerely loved but their bilateral relationships go beyond a single person.

“I am very proud of what we have achieved with the entire team at the US Embassy in Budapest, both Hungarians and Americans, in strengthening relations between our countries as allies,” added David Cornstein, who will miss Hungary.

Interestingly, the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, yesterday just published a post on her official Facebook page in which she received the United States ambassador in Budapest last week to discuss the objectives of the United States government, the state of the coronavirus epidemic and the Hungarian-American Relations.

Leaves after two years

The American businessman was an ambassador in Budapest for a good two years. US President Donald Trump has appointed the US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Hungary. The appointment was approved by the United States Senate on May 24, 2018, and the Ambassador presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Hungary on June 25, 2018.

“Rooted in New York, David Cornstein has achieved significant success in the city, both as a businessman and as a public figure. He has built a more than $ 1 billion NASDAQ-listed company as CEO and led a company state almost bankrupt, Off Track Betting: turning NYC into an efficient and highly profitable company during his 16 years of presidency ”, reads his portrait on the side of the embassy.

Ambassador Cornstein earned his BA from Lafayette College and his MBA (Master of Business Administration) from New York University. He and his wife, Sheila, have two children and a grandson.
