David Cornstein, the US ambassador in Budapest, resigned. The resignation was posted on the embassy’s Facebook page.
With deep feelings of pride and some sadness, I informed President Trump and Secretary of State Szijjártó that I would resign as the United States ambassador to Hungary on November 1. It was an honor and a privilege to serve the country I love in a country that I really liked, but our bilateral relations go beyond just one person. I am very proud of what we have achieved with the entire team of the United States Embassy in Budapest, both Hungarians and Americans, in strengthening relations between our countries as allies. I will miss Hungary, the wonderful friends and memories I made here, but I have always held my colleagues at the embassy, Hungary and the Hungarian people in my heart. by David Cornstein.
