Index – National – Will the house of the bear in Veresegyháza be the new performing arts?

15 days before the end of his term, the municipality informed the head of Bear Home in Veresegyháza by email that he would not extend his contract. It is known that starting Wednesday morning, the municipality will take over the management of the zoo. “We created the fourth most visited zoo in the country from an animal shelter here, which, while all other zoos need state support, generates a net profit of 100-150 million guilders for the settlement each year,” said the director (still) of Bálint Kuli to Index, before the news.

Especially since, according to him, the city does not have an official permit to have highly protected animals, so it cannot legally continue to run the Bear Home as an operator.

It’s a bit like now asking me to hand over driving a car to a person without a license.

The director pointed out.

The municipality asked me to deliver the leadership on Wednesday the 16th at 8 am, but due to my professional concerns, I contacted the relevant government agency and asked for their help.

Kuli detailed the situation, who now sees him saying goodbye to him for political reasons. He felt that the mayor, who had won as an independent but left-wing support, did not take a good look at the development aid agreed with the government.

Of course, we also contacted Mayor Béla Pásztor, who told the Index: he had a contract with Medveotthon Kft. In Veresegyháza for the feeding, care and health care of the animals.

The contract expires today, which they do not intend to renew.

Without permission, but it is already being handled

We have not received any justification, but according to Pásztor, Bálint Kuli has known for half a year that this will happen. Starting tomorrow, the zoo will be maintained by the local government organization itself, the Economic Technical Supply Organization, which submitted its application to the Pest County Government Office on August 13 for the necessary permits.

István Galamb, the head of the government office department and representatives of the partner authorities have already visited Bear Home and raised no objections. We are currently awaiting permission

The mayor added.

The Bear House in Roşia Montană

Veresegyháza Bear Home, which has been in operation for 22 years, is the only facility of this profile in the Central European region. It is home to more than thirty bears (including raccoons and teddy bears) and has 200,000 visitors a year. The zoo is also home to wolves and reindeer, and bird life is diverse on five and a half acres.

So they don’t give him the teddy bear

Bálint Kuli told the Index: in this unstable situation, in which the local government does not have an operation and maintenance license, tomorrow

DEFINITELY do not deliver anything to the City Council.

Despite coming in the morning for documentation and keys, Kuli and his colleagues requested property protection from a neutral employee in Dunakeszi, and the press and police were also called to the scene.

We will be there at seven in the morning, taking care of the animals, and when the townspeople arrive at eight, we will not give them the zoo! We will not allow the Mayor to turn Bear Home into a political playground!

The Director emphasized his plans for the Index. When asked if Mayor Béla Pásztor expects a personal arrival, he said:

If he finds out that we are not delivering the house, he will definitely show up.
