The number of people infected with the new coronavirus has skyrocketed in Croatia and Slovenia still exceeds 100 a day, MTI was quoted as saying by crisis teams on Saturday.

In croatia The crisis team reports that the number of identified coronavirus infections has risen by 261 in the past 24 hours to 13,368. Another 190 cases were reported on Friday. Seven chronically elderly patients died on Friday, bringing the death toll to 218.

Of the patients, 313 are in the hospital, 24 of whom are connected to a ventilator.

The number of people needing hospital care has increased

Epidemiologists are concerned about the increase in the number of patients requiring hospital care in recent days. The number of active patients is 2,429 and 8,955 are in official quarantine.

Most of the new infections were still recorded in the counties of the capital Zagreb and Split-Dalmatia: the first was detected in 49 people and the last in 48 people.

In Croatia, restrictions vary from county to county and mainly refer to limiting the number of participants in various events. At the same time, restaurants, cafes and nightclubs are regulated at the national level. The provisions will be reviewed every two weeks by the Crisis Team and, if necessary, will be extended for another two weeks.

Croatia opened its borders to foreign tourists in early July and there are still close to 200,000 tourists in the country.
According to Croatia’s e-Visitor system, which shows daily data, 6.8 million tourists visited Croatia in the first eight months and spent 47.5 million nights there, 41% less and 53% less than in the same last year’s period. In July and August alone, 5.2 million tourists visited the country.

Covid ambulances are planned for tourists.

Kristijan Stancic, director of the Croatian Tourism Association (TZ), told reporters that they were satisfied with the circumstances because, although they expected a 70 percent drop in turnover, they managed to reduce it to 54 percent.

He announced that in 2021, work will be done to set up more ambulances called Covid on smaller islands and resorts so tourists can perform PCR tests locally before traveling home to their own country.

In slovenia The number of identified coronavirus infections rose from 105 to 3603 on Thursday, according to data released by the government. Another 108 new cases were reported Wednesday. In Slovenia, the number of new infections increased to more than 100 per second day.

There were no new deaths, leaving the epidemic with 135 deaths. Of the diagnosed patients, 26 are in the hospital and five of them are cared for in an intensive care unit. The number of active patients is 769. Most of the infections, 21, were registered in the capital, Ljubljana.

New epidemics in nursing homes and schools

In Slovenia, the school year started on September 1. Entire institutions are not closed due to the epidemic situation, only classes are quarantined and moved on to digital education, and then students return to classrooms at the end of ten days. In the last ten days, 86 infected people were registered in educational institutions and 917 students and educators had to go to official home quarantine.

In Slovenia, children will not be tested for the coronavirus on Friday due to system overload in kindergartens and lower grades in primary schools. If they have a fever and other upper respiratory symptoms, they should stay home for at least three days. They will only be tested for Covid-19 if they do not improve or if an adult in the family becomes ill or comes into contact with someone who has been confirmed to be infected with the virus.
