After 187 days, a match of the Women’s Handball Champions League was played again. The previous season was canceled due to the coronavirus epidemic. Last year’s Hungarian champion and BL 2019 winner Győr is also the series favorite this season, but he didn’t have an easy opponent to start with. In the resurgent CSKA Moksha, four Russian champions played against Russia, and with their transfers they made it clear that they compete not only for the Russian championship but also for the BL.
The Győr players could not train because they had to change airports on Friday and no longer had time to practice.
