The number of coronavirus samples taken by ambulances has tripled in recent days – said Thursday Gábor Csató, Director General of the National Ambulance Service (OMSZ), Kossuth Rádió Good morning, Hungary! in your program.
The CEO said his goal is to reach anyone showing symptoms or who has been in close contact with an infected person within 24 to 48 hours.
“The ambulances take a nasal and pharyngeal sample in appropriate protective equipment, which is delivered to the laboratory,” he added.
Gábor Csató indicated that due to the worsening of the epidemic, publicly funded patient transport organizations will also be involved in the work, as they did during the spring epidemic. In response to a question, he said that the move to isolate his infected colleagues had been successful, as evidenced by the fact that 30 of the more than 4,500 rescuers have been infected with the virus since January.
