The fire has ruined Europe’s largest refugee camp on the Greek island of Lesbos in Moria after flames erupted in the area at dawn Wednesday, CNN eyewitnesses wrote.

The camp gave home to 13,000 people, but otherwise officially only 2,200 places.

No casualties and injuries have yet been reported, but authorities are investigating the damage for now.

George Moutafis, A photographer at the scene told Mega Greek TV that the camp was completely destroyed.

The Morian refugee camp no longer exists. Containers and tents were burned. The fire has already been extinguished. Most of the migrants fled to the nearby olive groves, but many of them have already returned in search of their belongings.

He explained.

The cause of the fire is unknown. The camp was previously quarantined after 35 people tested positive for coronavirus earlier this week.

By the way, there was a demonstration in the camp on Tuesday night over the restrictions that security dispersed with tear gas.
