The deputy accused of budget fraud said his accusation was void and that its authors were fired. According to the prosecution, the accusation is legal and no one has been released.

In recent days, Magyar Narancs has released a recording in which György Simonka, Fidesz deputy for the region, will speak at the meeting of the Board of Representatives in Medgyesbodzás at the end of August. During the recording, Simonka spoke about the weaknesses of the accusation made in his case and the staff of the Central Investigation Prosecutor’s Office that represents the Prosecutor’s Office.

Among other things, he said that

I’ll say it and we’ll prove the charge is zero! Because he doesn’t have the legal standing, the prosecutors have beaten him to the ground, and I’m going to tell the camera now, that they’ve been fired ever since.

The Office of the Attorney General of the Nation responded to their allegations to RTL Híradó. None of the prosecutors preparing the indictment were said to have been fired, no one had lost their jobs as a result of the case. “The accusation was declared legal by the court in the preparatory hearing, and then the Metropolitan Arbitration Board will decide on its content,” they indicated.

RTL also approached the MP, saying that it upheld all of its previous allegations.

György Simonka and 32 associates are charged with committing budget fraud and other crimes in a high-value organization. His criminal case will open in Metropolitan Court in nine days in October.

The presentation of the accusation of almost 150 pages, as well as the statements of more than thirty defendants, lasted three days in January in the Metropolitan Court. The prosecution proposed a prison sentence of eight and a half years and the forfeiture of 750 million guilders from the court in the event that Simonka admits the charge and forgoes the opportunity to defend himself. This was not done by the Fidesz politician.
