In an announcement sent to MTI on Tuesday, the Budapest airport wrote that in preparation for the decrease in traffic It also closes the newly delivered Pier 1, the passenger lounge and the arrival side of Terminal 2A, and a part of the departure level of the pier connected to Terminal 2B.

Departing passengers can pick up and drop off their luggage at Terminal 2B, while Skycourt remains open. Arriving passengers can only leave the airport area through Terminal 2B.

According to the airport operator, around 400,000 passengers were received in August, about 30 percent more than in July, but more than 75 percent less than last year.

On Monday, the Budapest airport reported that due to the reintroduced travel restrictions, a maximum of 3,000 passengers per day is expected in the next period, instead of the usual 45-50,000 per day. The annual number of passengers this year is a maximum of a third of the planned, up to 5.5 million people.
