In a statement sent to MTI on Tuesday, the Budapest airport wrote that it would close the recently delivered Pier 1, the passenger lounge and the arrival side of Terminal 2A, as well as part of the departure level of the pier connected to the Terminal. 2B, in preparation for the reduction of traffic.

Departing passengers can pick up and drop off their luggage at Terminal 2B, while Skycourt remains open. Arriving passengers can only leave the airport area through Terminal 2B.

According to the airport operator, almost 400,000 passengers were handled in August, about 30 percent more than in July, but that is more than 75 percent less than last year’s data.

Budapest airport announced on Monday that due to reintroduced travel restrictions, a maximum of 3,000 passengers per day is expected in the next period, instead of the usual 45-50 thousand per day, the annual number of passengers this year. it may be a third of the planned maximum of 5.5 million passengers.
