The cause of the University of Theater and Film Arts has caused resentment from students at many universities in the country. Somewhere they protest with a solidarity action, in other places with a declaration signed by hundreds, and although the Szeged Mill was demolished, the students did not give up.
A friend of mine wrote about what it would be like to somehow express that here in the far south many of us think like them too.
He said In my opinion, a student at the University of Szeged who, after seeing that students from the University of Theater and Film Arts had entrenched his university, thought that despite the almost two hundred kilometers, they also had to do something. Thus, they decided to place a mill in support of SZFE, which was later removed by the university leadership shortly.
The student said they also want more independence, the election of real leaders. “Hungarian higher education is sitting on the same shit, and now they want to get it out of it by pushing it even deeper, where complaints from leaders and citizens are no longer heard,” he said.
A hard core is being forged, and their numbers are on the rise, and we will take more action in the coming days. The instructors’ declaration of solidarity is signed, there are mills, there will be flashmobs
Said the student, who said that dissatisfaction should be expressed and come together because “they are walking with the same shoes in smaller and smaller circles.”
Vice Dean of SZTE, Klára Sándor He had previously said that the mill had to be removed because they had not been asked permission, but Bence pointed out that “it would have been tough in the same building in ’56 or anytime if we waited in line for study class to three thirty at night. ”. They are trying to get Molino back, and he has approached the vice dean, but three minutes before the end of his term, he replied that he was not competent for the matter.
Walking to BTK on Wednesday morning, I saw the university security service remove the sheet, he said. New Year Eve, another student from the University of Szeged in connection with the case. He finds it sad that it was so important to eliminate something that could be an important position, but instead there was no gesture from the university or faculty leadership that at least tried to justify the demolition of the mill, or perhaps take a position.
On New Year’s Eve he stressed that even as a rural college student, he considers it important not to undermine college self-determination in any way, because he regards his “college citizenship” as valuable, and that this should mean representing himself to college leaders.
This is especially important to him as a student at the University of Szeged, because there have been a number of speculations in recent years about how they might want to reorganize the university or even just its faculty of humanities. He thinks the only difference between SZFE and SZTE in the outsourced mill is that he feels like it can happen to them anytime they make similar decisions over their heads, and then it may be important to them that other students support them. who understand why independence and freedom of thought are important.
I feel like this whole situation is not About Attila Vidnyánszky and not even about the excellent film and theater professionals, but about us students of all time, and the hundreds of years of tradition in which universities had the freedom to operate, research and teach.
– said the student, who thinks that all this may seem like an idea, but in fact it guarantees the functioning of everyday life.
Another SZTE student, who asked for his name to be withheld, said that while he did not view his acting education and internal affairs at all, he viewed it as harmful from the outside “trying to simplify things again as if they oppose the two ideologies” . .
What bothers me the most is “how they go through everything again, without thinking and without involving the stakeholders”, and that worries me more than the “ideological coups”.
I often feel that certain communities of learners are not seen as mature and thinking adults. Whether you like it or not, we are our students. And whether you like it or not, our skills allow us to recognize the good and the bad side, respectively. Reconnaissance has taken place, a crowd has formed that cannot be ordered to stop
He thought so Otília, also a SZTE student.
The college student finds it terrifying and outrageous that “the crowd opposing the new leadership becomes insignificant through their glasses.”
The SZTE BTK’s many, many years old walls were worth 56, the mill laid out of solidarity would have withstood as long as it should. The tremendous influencing force, fear, removed it. It is not necessary to point the finger and hold people accountable for it, whereas in Hungary we have to fear the rights and the choices that we have.
Far from being the students of Szeged, the students are not only in solidarity with the students and staff of the Performing Arts:
According to our information, ELTE students are also preparing for a solidarity action on Monday for the university.
“There is still no consensus on the details of the action, but people are meeting very well. It is true that the great interest is also due to the fact that in addition to SZFE, the Index case also involved mainly young people, and in ELTE there have been serious dismissals in various faculties in recent years, and in TÁTK a special program has been prohibited ” he explained. an ELTE student, referring to the 2018 closing of the gender section.
Additionally, more than 800 Corvinus students defended SZFE by signing a resolution. Editorial of the statement Soma He said it wasn’t just his idea, several students independently indicated that something should be done about it.
The Corvinus student said that he goes to the theater quite a bit, perhaps most of Ódry’s performances (SZFE’s own theater in Budapest), he regularly sees exam lectures and presentations, so he has a pretty good idea of the quality of the performances and is impressed by the dedication and talent you experience. “That is why it is so outrageous when people who declare their exams too often make degrading statements about it,” he said.
Soma considers Vidnyánszky’s accumulation of positions, the destruction of the university’s autonomy, the lack of meaningful communication and the total disregard for the initiatives put forward by university citizens to be the main problems.
The student does not understand what it takes for Vidnyánszky to continue assuming his position after 250 students near the university, many professors and managers resigned, much of the profession and many people defend his cause. “I think it is a terrible social insensitivity. If they didn’t want me to be a leader somewhere so much, I wouldn’t just go there. “
I really support them and hope they achieve something, but I think there is much more to it than college. They are practically ruining everything in the country one by one, based on the fact that they all only care about themselves and do not defend the other anyway. I do not believe that the barricade prevents the government from going through what occurred to them, it is not their custom to take the protest into account. But it’s also another drop, and sooner or later I think the glass is full
The Corvinus student said.
We contacted several universities, what is their position on the events around SZFE, until the publication of our article, only Corvinus responded. The university wrote:
At the Corvinus University in Budapest, the renovation process based on the new model is underway successfully, as it has shown last year. It is important to have a continuous dialogue between the actors involved in the transformation and to jointly build a culture that supports the successful operation of the university. We are confident that any transforming university will be able to do this difficult task, as Corvinus has done so far.
Rather than show solidarity with the Performing Arts, Corvinus was noted to be “happy to share his experience of his renewal process.”
