Another 301 Hungarian citizens were diagnosed with coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours, increasing the number of infected people identified in Hungary to 6,923. This is the second highest daily figure to date after yesterday’s record new case count (365 people).
An elderly patient has died, bringing the domestic death toll to 620 this morning.
The number of active infected people has increased by 273 since yesterday morning, the authorities already know about 2373 active infected people in the country, which is a new peak. Currently, 100 coronavirus patients are being treated in the hospital, 7 of whom have symptoms so severe they require a ventilator.
In terms of regional distribution, 44% of the actively infected, 60% of the dead and 42% of those recovered are from Budapest.
In Europe, the second wave of the epidemic is being felt, the number of infections is increasing, and conditions for entry from abroad are tightening again to slow the introduction of the virus. According to the Statutes, foreign citizens cannot enter the territory of Hungary, and Hungarian citizens returning from abroad must have an official 14-day home quarantine, recalls koronavirus.gov.hu.
As the data on new infections warn, the epidemic is not over, the number of active infections is increasing again, so discipline, entry restrictions and adherence to general hygiene rules remain very important. We will continue to avoid places where there are many indoors, preferably maintaining a social distance, washing our hands frequently and thoroughly, wearing the mask in stores and on public transport. Anyone who has been ordered to have an official home quarantine for a stay abroad or for any other reason must strictly comply. Anyone with symptoms should not go into the community but stay home and notify their GP by phone. By adhering to all of this, we can prevent the spread of infection and the introduction of additional restrictive measures.
