According to the medical director, 10 percent of recent illnesses were imported from abroad, but 25 percent of them continue to transmit the infection.

Coronavirus: the second wave

Half a year after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in the spring, the second wave of the pandemic has arrived. The radical increase in the number of infected is forcing more and more countries to re-impose restrictions, despite the fact that the world economy has not even recovered from the effects of the spring outbreak. According to the posters, the second wave also reached Hungary. Follow our news!

Cecília Müller, national director, is probably the most cited public figure of the year this year. This time, Müller spoke from an office wearing a mask and summarized the situation in a five and a half minute video.

According to the medical director

  • this time, people over 30 are more affected by the infection.
  • Young people are not aware that they are affected by this disease, since they are often asymptomatic carriers of the virus.
  • the virus can easily spread to businesses, for example by sharing glasses.
  • By now, 10 percent of recent diseases have been imported from abroad, but 25 percent of these continue to transmit infection.
  • everyone be careful and follow all the rules that you followed at the beginning of the pandemic (wash hands, mask, stay away, etc.).

Cecília Müller on the current stage of the epidemic

The national medical director, Cecília Müller, evaluated the current stage of the epidemic. With the second wave, the number of new coronavirus infections has risen steadily in recent weeks and the virus is now more prevalent among young people, so young people have a greater responsibility in these weeks. Epidemiological recommendations should be followed: preferably remotely, with a mask in public transport and in confined spaces, as well as regular hand washing, hand disinfection, disinfection of commonly used surfaces. By acting responsibly, we can prevent people from having to reintroduce national restrictive measures that seriously hampered our lives in the spring.

The former editorial office of index.hu has essentially ceased to exist, the country has lost its most read online interface. This is one of the most serious blows to the independent Hungarian press and freedom of information to date. The number of independent power editorial boards is steadily decreasing, and those that still exist are trying to stay afloat in a growing headwind. At HVG, we persevere, not giving in to pressure to bring in national and international news every day.

That is why we ask you, our readers, to support us, support us, join our membership and renew it!

And we promise to keep doing our best for you in all circumstances!
