Students are already talking about more infected people and the official numbers are expected to rise as well.

Coronavirus: the second wave

Half a year after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in the spring, the second wave of the pandemic has arrived. The radical increase in the number of infected is forcing more and more countries to re-impose restrictions, despite the fact that the world economy has not even recovered from the effects of the spring outbreak. According to the posters, the second wave also reached Hungary. Follow our news!

Last week, four students were diagnosed with a coronavirus infection after returning home from the freshwater camp of Budapest Corvinus University in Bükkszék. Since then, however, 18 of the participants have already been confirmed to be infected, according to the National Center for Public Health. Azénpénzem.hu.

College students speak of many more infected than that. According to the portal, this may also be because many have been tested in private, so they do not appear in official statistics yet.

Epidemiological investigation, data collection, and contact investigation are still ongoing, so official figures are expected to rise. So far, none of those infected have needed hospital treatment.

Despite the threat of an epidemic, the government has also allowed freshman camps to be held this year, referring the decision to the university authority. In August, after Corvinus, the Szent István University freshman camp also tested positive in five participants, and a total of three coronaviruses participated in two Pécs University camps. The University of Debrecen announced Monday that it had destroyed its last freshman camp.

The former editorial office of index.hu has essentially ceased to exist, the country has lost its most read online interface. This is one of the most serious blows to the independent Hungarian press and freedom of information to date. The number of independent power editorial boards is steadily decreasing, and those that still exist are trying to stay afloat in a growing headwind. At HVG, we persevere, not giving in to pressure to bring in national and international news every day.

That is why we ask you, our readers, to support us, support us, join our membership and renew it!
