It is questionable whether the Bayern-Sevilla Super Cup match will be played in Budapest

According to the German Kicker, the summit could avoid Hungary, but the government will probably issue a new decree.

According to plans, the European Super Cup will be played on September 24, in front of 20,000 spectators, at the Puskás Arena in Budapest with the participation of the Champions League champion Bayern Munich and Sevilla, who won the Europa League. But Kicker now writes that

the meeting can even be avoided in the Hungarian capital.

The reason for this is that the Hungarian government ordered the border closure again from September 1 due to the increase in coronavirus diseases. Foreigners would not be allowed to enter the country under the statute, but there are special cases, for example, the police may allow entry to those who participate in cultural, religious and sporting events of great international importance.

The European Super Cup also complies with this, according to the Hungarian Gazette, the representatives of the teams can enter the territory of Hungary if “- taking into account the relevant protocol of the European Football Association -, confirm with a document in Hungarian or English containing the results of a molecular biology test – SARS-CoV-2 PCR test – that the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus was not detectable in the body at the time of the test. “

However, this does not apply to spectators, and UEFA would like to celebrate the match in front of the fans as originally planned; a separate government decree on the event is expected to be issued. UEFA informed Kicker that it was in constant consultation with the Hungarian government and MLSZ. At the request of National Sport, the European organization responded that it would indicate in a communication if there would be any changes.

The teams would have originally played for the European Super Cup in Porto, but due to the epidemic, Budapest eventually became the venue.
