According to our compromise proposal, which will be launched these days, cyclists will still be able to circulate safely, giving drivers almost the road and a better environment for those who live there. that we want to create. “

said the mayor, adding that:

We will create a bike lane in the parking lane, so we will return lane 2 * 2 to Dohány street to motorists. Lane 2 * 1 will be in the next section, because here it is not possible to create a bicycle lane in the parking lot, but here we will create curb islands in order to obtain a more motorist friendly lighting program.

Balogh samu chief of staff, urban planner told a press conference that

Blaha Lujza Square is a response line, from there the two lanes to the Pet befi bridge will be restored twice, but the car parks will be lost. Between Blaha Lujza Square and Nyugati Square, the current situation will remain with minor modifications, but double-lane solutions will be developed in front of crossings and there will be lighting programs, especially at pedestrian crossings, which can provide more capacity with a design single lane.

The next steps will take place during September and construction will begin this week. Most of the changes will take place at the beginning of September and another part at the end of the month.

During the fall, complex planning will begin, based on community planning for the future of Grand Boulevard. Later, the mayor added that the transport of goods would still be allowed. With this solution, between 400 and 500 parking spaces must be sacrificed.

On September 10, Balázs Fürjes will also be among the speakers at the Housing Conference, where the focus will be on the government’s affordable housing program.

Balázs Fürjes is the Secretary of State responsible for the development of Budapest and the agglomeration Before the press conference, he suggested the same solution to the capital to return the lane taken to motorists before the start of the school year, and as a solution he wrote about a bicycle lane instead of parking lots. In a Twitter post:

On Grand Boulevard, there should be a bike lane instead of a parking lane, so that the collection of shops and parking for people with reduced mobility can still be guaranteed. There must be a preliminary and meaningful dialogue and a professional impact study on the bike lane rather than the car parks.
