In addition to the sudden increase in the number of infectious cases in Hungary in recent days (178 new cases were reported this morning after 292 on Sunday), which has already led to restrictions on travel abroad, it is always worth paying attention to the processes from foreign countries. It can also affect the level of constraints and, through it, household consumption, investment, and thus economic growth as a whole.

Globally, the number of confirmed coronaviruses continues to grow steadily by a quarter of a million people per day, while research shows that there are presumably many more real but asymptomatic infections. In total, the number of confirmed infections exceeds 25.2 million, of which almost 850,000 have died, but 16.6 million have recovered, although in many cases they live their lives with permanent respiratory or circulatory complications.

If we want to summarize on a single map where the epidemic is spreading very quickly now, according to the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), this is the best we can do. As you can see: The United States, almost all of South America, almost all of Spain, northern Portugal, Montenegro, Moldova, Iraq, Israel, Qatar, and Namibia are burgundy, that is, for every 100,000 people, there are more than 120 new infections in the last 14 days. Also, we see France, Ukraine, Romania and Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, Albania in Europe (between 60 and 120 cases) in dark yellow.

Most of the deaths occurred in the United States, 183,000, and reached 6 million for confirmed infections and 2.15 million for recovered cases. The epidemic has shown signs of abating in the United States for weeks, with various restrictions, and the 7-day moving average shows a new infection of about 40,000 people.

Brazil, which has the highest number of cases on the South American continent, is also showing a reduction in the spread of the epidemic: the moving average has dropped to around 40,000 per day, while it is rising strongly and is already above the 9,000 in Argentina.

Moving to Africa, the epidemic has receded very well in South Africa, the former largest center, the same can be said for Egypt, while in the Middle East, Iraq and Iran the cases are still alarmingly high (if you can believe them).

Moving to Asia, we have already indicated in the introduction a further significant deterioration of the situation in India, with a moving average of around 80,000 npai cases, while mitigation is being implemented in some large cities to improve the economic and social situation. In the most populous country, therefore, the epidemic is expected to continue to produce very high numbers. Meanwhile, the epidemic situation in Indonesia has also started to deteriorate.

Going further into the Far East, the epidemics in the Philippines and Japan appear to have been caught by authorities, and the current tightening in South Korea is expected to show this in 1-2 weeks.

Turning to Europe, we see that the epidemic situation in France and Spain deteriorates rapidly in the larger Western countries, although it should be noted that the Spanish did not publish numbers of cases over the weekend, but the figure above 5,400 the Friday was alarmingly high. medium. The number of cases in Italy is back above 1000, the authorities could catch the rise of the German curve and the British would now be preparing to go up.

Behind the jumps in the number of cases in Hungary, most of the cases can be traced back to an imported infection from a holiday abroad, according to the official signal, so it is worth taking a picture of the main holiday countries favored by the Hungarians. As we can see, with the exception of Bulgaria and, in part, the Greek epidemic, the situation in the other countries has deteriorated dramatically in the last 2-3 weeks.

Dividing the countries of our region into two blocks, it can be said that in addition to Hungary, the Czech epidemic has begun to deteriorate, while the Poles have found around 700 cases daily for weeks, the Ukrainian epidemic has not yet been suppressed, but the Romanian and Austrian situation has stabilized.
