They remove the extra support from the schools of Gábor Iványi

Starting in the new school year, the government will reduce and then completely withdraw additional support from the schools of the Hungarian Evangelical Brotherhood (MET) – writes 444. MET also maintains several kindergartens, primary and secondary schools in Budapest and in areas disadvantaged of the country.

EMMI wrote to 444 that under the August 5 agreement, half of the additional aid, 95 million HUF, would be awarded to MET. The reason for the reduction was that “of the subsidies available, the Ministry spent part of its resources on epidemiological control, the reduction was also implemented in the case of other beneficiaries.” They then added that even that 50 percent is just for one school year.

Gábor Iványi The pastor, chief of MET, wrote in the church’s Thursday bulletin that the decision was made because “they don’t believe that what has been spent on MET’s educational institutions over the past fifteen years is worth it. Furthermore, they cannot measure educational level ”.

Iványi argued, on the one hand, that hundreds of children had completed eight classes, many had graduated or obtained a profession, and “after a large proportion came from extreme poverty, the school provided other supports such as family care, social care , aftercare, mental health care, meals, and even family help, especially in winter and in the form of food packages), why not have a good return ?, writes 444.

According to Iványi, the Secretary of State suggested that if the operation could not be solved, they were willing to seize the State institutions.

Article 444 notes that the MET and the government have been in a decade-long struggle since the new ecclesiastical law of 2011 deprived the MET of its ecclesiastical status. And Iványi now only trusts in miracles:

In the past few years, there have been countless examples of us kicking last and some last minute help. I just say with faith that I believe we will be able to work. But what, I can’t say.
