Today it promises to be very dense, during which time various contracts can be announced. We had previously written that Carlos Sainz Jr.’s position was virtually certain at Ferrari, and even though McLaren made several offers to the Spanish, he could not say no to the Italians.

More F1 news:

THE Motorsport-Total.com learned that Zak Brown and Andreas Seidl soon found Sainz’s successor, who Daniel Ricciardo. Days ago, the news appeared in Turrini’s Italian press that the Australian driver had decided to leave Renault and had signed with the British.

The relationship had existed between the parties before, in 2018, but then Ricciardo voted in favor of the Renault name. And last year, he offered his services to the legendary barn himself, which featured the Norris-Sainz duo.

A joint announcement by Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari covered the plans. At first, it looked like Sebastian Vettel might be the runner-up, but it turned out that the German world champion said no to the project because he didn’t want to wait years to get a winning car. Instead, he takes a chance and tries to get one of the seats in the Mercedes or retires.

THE Motorsport-Total.com Ricciardo reportedly told Renault on Wednesday morning that he would not renew his contract, which expires in late 2020. McLaren is expected to announce the Norris-Ricciardo duo by 2021 today. However, unlike previous reports, the contract was recently registered with Woking.

McLaren approved the transfer from Sainz to Ferrari, which was necessary because the contract included an option to continue. With this, all obstacles have been removed and the transfer of the experienced pilot to Maranello will soon become official.

Ricciardo was not only convinced of the great past of McLaren, where successful riders like Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, Mika Häkkinen or Lewis Hamilton competed. The fact that the unit will again compete with Mercedes engines from next year also played a role in his decision.

Renault may not yet announce Esteban Ocon’s teammate, but there may be a good chance that Fernando Alonso is. The Spanish world champion already knows what he is going to do in 2021 and more than once has pointed to a possible return of F1. Nico Hülkenberg is also a freelancer, so as long as there is no official announcement, his return to Germany is not ruled out.
