In one step, the Cabinet withdrew HUF 38 billion from the Economic Protection Fund established by him. This is the fund to which the government has allocated money that has not been publicly blocked in the budget to be used to alleviate the economic shock caused by the coronavirus epidemic. 1,346 million HUF went to the economic protection fund, of which 423 billion HUF came from the government’s standardization of income from the employment fund, and another 922 billion HUF came from the spending blockade of ministerial chapters in the Budget Law.

The government decree on this was published more than a month ago, but the cabinet has yet to reveal which areas will be blocked. Newspaper.

Although it does not know what the fund is made of, the government has started spending the money. Therefore, most of the money was spent for purposes far removed from economic protection. For the first time, a total of HUF 38 billion was withdrawn from the fund, of which most of the money (nearly HUF 15 billion) went to the Eximbank Zrt interest grant. By the same decision, an additional 5.4 billion HUF was allocated to unspecified “additional tasks” from the Ministry of Innovation.

At the same time, national SMEs that are not struggling with shortages are almost certain to benefit from the HUF 11.4 billion received by the Ministry of Human Resources for the operation of Elizabeth’s camps, Népszava said. The 6 billion HUF allocated to state-owned company investments, which was received by the minister’s office without portfolio responsible for state asset management, can also be described as a measure of economic protection only indirectly.

Meanwhile, the money that is really free to spend, budget balances, is spent on issues that are far from managing the epidemic.
