Patients with a serious or critical condition, infected with the coronavirus, should be transported from two parts of the country to two hospitals in Budapest, according to a decree issued on Friday and promulgated the same day, 444.hu attracted attention. According to the document, the decision to transport patients from university hospitals to the capital is not professionally justified, because the movement is risky and conditions can be provided closer to care.

According to a letter approved by the Emmi Minister, Miklós Kásler, signed by the national chief physician, Cecília Müller:

„Depending on the nature and symptoms of coronavirus infection (2019-nCOV), the National Institute of Hematology and Infectious Diseases at South Pest Central Hospital will continue to operate to the best of its ability. (hereinafter DPC – ed.)and the Korányi National Pneumology Institute provides care to transportable patients with moderate and critical illnesses. New or transportable suspected and confirmed patients belonging to the aforementioned risk group will be transferred to the Central Hospital of Plagas del Sur-National Institute of Hematology and Infectious Diseases or the National Institute of Early Pneumology up to the limit of free capacity, after consultation previous telephone ”.

In addition, the transport of coronavirus patients is only possible by road, air transport is not allowed due to the difficulties of disinfecting the rescue helicopter, and the two designated capital hospitals: the Central Hospital of South Pest, National Institute of Hematology and Infectious Diseases With a suitable place.

According to 444.hu, there is no professional reason for the decision, at most political, because this could increase mortality statistics in Budapest. There would be a ration in treating critically ill patients in one place, but the form of implementation is debatable, designated hospitals are not necessarily more suitable than those from which patients should be removed from now on, and the container hospital in Kiskunhalas it is empty.
