A bicycle lane will be established in XI. The new 1.7-kilometer section will be directly connected to Bartók Béla út’s bicycle lanes in Villányi út, the Budapest Transport Center told MTI on Sunday.

Monday will begin work on designing the new bike lane, and the conversion will not reduce the number of lanes cars can use.

Thanks to the new section connecting Móricz Zsigmond körtér and Budaörsi út, the MOL Bubi collection stations along Villányi út will be more safely accessible.

According to BKK, the Metropolitan Municipality will continuously monitor the use of the new lanes and decide on their final design at the end of the summer at the same time as the other sections.

At the end of March, the Metropolitan Municipality decided to create temporary bicycle lanes to stop the spread of the coronavirus epidemic. As a result, in the section of Bartók Béla út between Móricz Zsigmond körtér and Tétényi út, in Tétényi út between Bartók Béla út and Etele út, in the section of Üllői út between Kálvin tér and Könyves Kálmán körút and in Nagykötút úút Vöti Bicycle lanes have been established for about 20 kilometers, according to the communication.
