Electric scooters that can be rented with a mobile phone app – meaning Lime and Breezy vehicles – have disappeared from the streets of Budapest, the G7 warned.

Lime removed scooters from the capital on March 19. Users have not been notified of this and no announcement has been made in Hungary, the information in English according to which, with the exception of South Korea, they will be suspended worldwide due to the coronavirus epidemic, dates from last week.

According to the G7, this was a surprise to many: there were those who exchanged passes a few days earlier precisely because they wanted to use scooters due to the epidemic, they lost their money.

These vehicles have spread across the globe at a stormy pace, with the first lithium-ion battery powered electronic rollers appearing in greater numbers in 2017, and the Bird and Lime springless electronic roller exchange system launched this year.

The two largest e-scooter companies are present in 220 cities in the United States and three dozen European countries. Although exact figures are not provided, Lime may have about 120,000 rollers, and Bird has a similar number.

According to the document, of the quarter of a million scooters detained, it is doubtful how many will ever be restarted.
